Carnegie Mellon Professor Randy Pausch (Oct. 23, 1960 – July 25, 2008) gave his last lecture at the university Sept. 18, 2007, before a packed McConomy Auditorium. In his moving presentation, “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams,” Pausch talked about his lessons learned and gave advice to students on how to achieve their own career and personal goals.

Sometimes we are blessed to see examples of how simply and easily animals communicate with each other (compliments from You Tube).

Purpose…

“When you are inspired by some great purpose,
some extraordinary project,
all your thoughts break their bonds;
Your mind transcends limitations,
your consciousness expands in every direction,
and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world.

Dormant forces, faculties, and talents
become alive and you discover yourself
to be a greater person by far
than you ever dreamed yourself to be.”
~
Patanjali

The great sage and master, Avatar Patanjali, was the founder and father of Yoga, who wrote the Yoga Sutras.  He was considered to be a fully self-realized avatar, who had mastered the mind, the body, its senses, and even this physical world.  He was also a profound knower of knowledge which made him an amazing philosopher and teacher of how to master your life.

Activity:  As you read “Purpose”, reflect on your own talents and dreams.

  • What project(s)or dreams inspire you to break any bonds of thought? to transcend limitations of your mind?
  • Explore your faculties and talents, allowing any dormant forces to emerge that will aid you in discovering any dreams or projects that may be calling to you.

Suggestion:  Envision the steps you can take that will inspire and lead you to become alive by “some great purpose, some extraordinary project”. Begin by taking one small step in this direction. Become open to receiving insights, support and ideas. Create a space in your journal for capturing these inspirational thoughts and steps to manifesting your dreams.

“All religions, arts and sciences are branches of the same tree. All these aspirations are directed toward ennobling man’s life, lifting it from the sphere of mere physical existence and leading the individual towards freedom.”  ~ Albert Einstein

Activity:  Reflect on the integration of religions, arts, and sciences and ponder what Einstein inspired others to observe and learn.

  • Notice if you are exploring the commonalities within these branches or are you lost within the separation of these branches?
  • What is the focus in our society? our educational institutions? our religious communities?  our government?
  • What can you do to embrace this kind of freedom for yourself? for your family? for your community?

Suggestion:  To explore a current presentation of this conceptual message, view the movie, “What the Bleep Do We Know?”

Welcome!

Welcome to Inner Gardening!  My vision for this blog is to offer inspirational, motivational, and educational information…all focused on tending one’s inner garden!

Just as nature has its seasons, so do we.  Throughout our life journey there are moments of germination, creation, reflection, integration, harvesting, disintegration, and completion.  We may find ourselves in the midst of one or several of these phases depending on the aspects of our lives.

As we nurture, appreciate, and express our “Essence” (you may call it your spirit, soul, higher self, Source, God Self, etc.) we often move through the peaks and valleys whether it be our spiritual, emotional, mental, or physical aspects of our journey.  It has been my experience that by allowing myself to integrate all of these aspects I am able to perceive and learn from my experiences more fully. It has also blessed me with the gift of knowing that there is a “bigger picture” that may not always be easy to perceive especially during times of conflict or stress.

“Inner Gardening” is a resource that one may find of assistance to inspire and transform while sharing the journey of one’s essence!  Enjoy your visit and may you find a gift to take away with you that will make your day even brighter!

Blessings while you continue to bloom!
